Guess. Started in 1981 by the Marciano brothers, who moved to California from Morocco, Guess? quickly gained renown as an innovative and and iconic brand. Guess developed the first "designer" jeans. They quickly gained popularity and soon were well-loved for their stylish and creative denim. In 1984, Guess soon followed up it's men's and women's lines with the creation of its designer watches. In the 1990s Guess expanded it's company to cover the world and began to have some trouble with the law and with their image, as they were accused of failure to pay minimum wage or give overtime. Though their reputation may have been damaged in the United States, there were other, increasingly lucrative markets overseas.
In the current decade, Guess has changed its campaigns to be increasingly racy and appealing to a younger, hipper market. Recently, Guess started a new line of pricier and more luxurious items, though its other lines are still extremely popular.
Guess watches have been around for almost 25 years, and continue to be as daring and flashy as the controversial yet respected brand they belong to. Though they are made from semi-valuable materials and stainless steel, their price points are fairly low for designer watches and the selection for men and women is much larger and more varied. They range from 100 to 150 dollars. Guess watches are popular because they combine designer looks and a big brand name with affordability and quality. Though Guess is not nearly as classy as Gucci, it still cashes in on its sought-after timepieces.
